Yarm is a small town in North East England on the south bank of the River Tees. The town features an impressive viaduct, which runs directly across the town to create a very scenic townscape against the backdrop of the Yorkshire countryside beyond. Another feature of the town, "The Rookery", is a woodland next to the River Tees, which allows public access. A walkway was constructed in The Rookery in 2002 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The woodland is very popular with BMX riders in the summer.
The North Yorkshire region as a whole is a very attractive and historical landscape of rivers, moors and ancient rural villages, which is an extremely pleasant visiting place for walkers and fishing enthusiasts, as well for that traditional English family holiday filled with fun, intrigue and adventure.
