Worcester Park

Worcester Park is a suburb of London, in England, that covers much of the area occupied by the counties of Surrey and Sutton.

The suburb is named after the 4th Earl of Worcester, who was once Keeper of the Great Park in 1606. The Great Park developed originally within a ring road that surrounded the Nonsuch Palace of Henry VIII. This was the grandest of the monarch's building projects and was so named because there was supposedly no such place of equal magnificence. It was completed in the reign of Queen Mary I by the 19th Earl of Arundel but was subsequently gifted by Charles II to one of his mistresses who then sold of the building materials to satisfy gambling debts. Nonsuch Mansion was built in the 18th century in the style of the original palace, which is now open to the public and is famous for its historical landscaped gardens.
