Wolverhampton is a large and vibrant city of the West Midlands, in England, near Birmingham. It is Anglo-Saxon in origin and is believed to have been named after the Lady Wulfruna, who founded the town in AD 985. A statue of the Lady is displayed at St. Peter's Collegiate Church, which is a Grade I listed building with grounds, dating largely from the 15th century.
The town is situated on the Smethwick to Telford section of Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 81, which follows the course of the Birmingham Main Line Canal, making it a very popular location for cyclists, having hosts the Tour of Britain several times in recent years.
Notable attractions in the town include: Bilston Craft Gallery, Wightwick Manor, Moseley Old Hall, Drayton Manor Theme Park, and the Wickid Animal Adventure. Wightwick Manor is also a very popular place of interest as it is one of only a few remaining examples of a house built under the Arts and Crafts movement of the late Victorian period.
