Whitley Bay is a town in the county of Tyne and Wear on the North Sea coast. Whitley Bay benefits from vast swathes of shoreline with golden sands that form a bay stretching from St. Mary's Island in the north to Cullercoats in the south. This seaside town has long been a holiday destination for the people of North East England and Scotland, although travellers came from all over the world now.
Whitley Bay is known for its boisterous nightlife that brings valuable source of revenue and has been the source for renewed interest in the seafront area. The main concentration of venues for party lovers is South Parade. Lined with bars, hotels, guesthouses and restaurants, South Parade curves down from the town centre to the seafront.
Shopping is well catered for at Park View, this shopping street runs parallel to the seafront and is a continuation of the well known Whitley Road, the town's principal thoroughfare that has an eclectic mix of independent shops that cater for a wide variety of tastes.
