Wemyss Bay

Wemyss Bay is a scenic village on the Scottish East Coast. It is situated of the Firth of Clyde within the Inverclyde council area (the former county of Renfrewshire), in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It is adjoins the neighbouring village of Skelmorlie, which is in the council area of North Ayrshire, but with which it forms a contiguous settlement, divided only by the Kelly Burn. The town has very good rail links and is the ferry terminal for visitors to the Isle of Bute from Glasgow. It is a relatively new settlement that was founded in the early 19th century as a marine village by Robert Wallace of Kelly. However, it retains a traditional village atmosphere, with a pub, butcher, newsagent, cafe, and fish and chip shop at its centre.
