Waterlooville is a town in Hampshire, ;England, neighbouring Portsmouth amid a knot of smaller towns and villages. The town is said to take its name from a pub that once occupied its centre, which was renamed the Heroes of Waterloo because the returning soldiers of the Battle of Waterloo stopped there there to celebrate their victory, in 1815. The area around the pub became known as Waterlooville. The town offers good shopping prospects in its fully pedestrianised precinct, along with a broad choice of quality holiday accommodation, numerous pubs and restaurants, and good transport links. Attractions in the area include Staunton Country Park, the Mary Rose Exhibition, Uppark House and Garden, the Royal Marines Museum, Southsea Castle, Fishbourne Roman Palace, and Chichester Cathedral, to name only a handful.
