Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, England. It is prettily situated on the River Avon, near Coventry and Leamington Spa. Warwick was founded in 914 when the Anglo Saxon Lady of the Mercians, Ethelfleda, the sister of king Edward the Elder, built a fortified dwelling to subdue the Danish Vikings of the area.
The sprawling Warwick Castle, Lord Leycester hospital, Collegiate Church of St Mary, The Dream Factory playbox theatre company, the Saxon Mill, and St. Nicholas' Park are just a few of the notable landmarks of the town. Attractions of the wider area include Hill Close Gardens, and Stratford-upon-Avon (home town of William Shakespeare).
