Wanlip

Wanlip is a small country village in the central English county of Leicestershire. It enjoys an enviable location by Watermead Country Park, on the River Soar. Wanlip Meadows lie to the south of the village, creating a pretty walking destination that is also a Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust nature reserve.  The village was once home to William Wilberforce, the 19th century MP and key figure in the abolition of slavery in the UK. 

This is a charming and quiet village, that won the Leicestershire and Rutland prize for best village of under 500 inhabitants in 2008. It offers an enjoyable location from which to explore central England, with its wealth of heritage and beauty.
