The small town of Verwood in the beautiful county of Dorset lies on the River Crane in the stunning landscape at the edge of the New Forest. There has been settlement here since prehistoric times with evidence of burial mounds, cremations and flint implements found in the area. Brick making and pottery were the trades here and the historic Verwood pottery is now considered collectable. The last pottery closed in the mid 20th century and later, the Verwood Heathland Heritage Centre was opened on the site; offering insight into the fascinating history of this town.
Verwood is a pretty town with a colourful market every Friday, ample shops and amenities, eateries and pubs as well as visitor and cultural attractions and historic sites within the area. Popular with visitors, the nearby Dorset Heavy Horse Centre and Farm Park offers a unique experience with rides, Shire horses, miniature ponies, donkeys and other animals as well as a reconstructed Blacksmiths Museum.
