The city of Truro in the scenic county of Cornwall grew from its port and mining industry to become a busy and successful city. There has been a town here since the 12th century when a castle was built at the top of what is now Castle Street; evidence was found during excavations and the Courts of Justice are sited on the spot today. Truro is the only city in Cornwall and well-known for its wonderful cathedral that was completed in the early 20th century. With pretty cobbled streets, well planned open spaces and attractive Georgian architecture, Truro is a popular place with residents and visitors alike.
The city has all the amenities, pubs, bars, restaurants, eateries and fabulous shopping you could want and plenty of places of interest, historic sites and cultural attractions too. The Royal Cornwall Museum tells the story of this fascinating city and county and of course, Cornwall's Courts of Justice and Cornwall Council on the site of the former cathedral, are well worth a visit.
