Tremadoc

The village of Tremadog in Gwynedd, Wales is considered one of the finest examples of a planned town and since its centre was completed in 1811, remains relatively unchanged. Tremadog was founded by William Alexander Madocks, who bought the land in 1798 with the intention of attracting people here to build within his overall plan. The Market Square, with the backdrop of a sheer cliff is the heart of the development with the High Street and Dublin Street crossing it and lined with all the important buildings like the Town Hall with Dancing Room and the Coaching Inn.

Tremadog is a favoured destination for motorcyclists who enjoy the long, quiet roads and outdoor enthusiasts who come for the natural challenges like rock climbing that attracts climbers from all over the country. For those with a passion for beautiful architecture and exceptional town planning, Tremadog is a pleasure; the Town Hall is atop a plinth of steps, with five round arched openings on the ground floor and generously proportioned sash windows on the first. The Dancing Room was on the first floor and dancers would enter via the Tap Room of the adjoining pub, the Madocks' Arms. Tremadog is a wonderful destination offering ample amenities, shops, eateries and pubs in a picturesque location.
