Tonypandy

Tonypandy is a town in Wales, situated in the Rhondda Fawr Valley. The name refers to a fulling mill that was established in the town in the 19th century.

Several prehistoric sites are present in the Tonypandy area, the most notable being the mountain of Mynydd y Gelli, which features an Iron Age burial ground that is also known as the Rhondda Stonehenge. The remains of an Iron Age settlement known as Hen Dre'r Gelli can also be seen on the mountain side, along with several Bronze Age cairns.

Popular sites and attractions of the area include the Rhondda Cynon Taf Heritage Trail, the Rhondda Heritage Park, Cynon Valley Museum and Gallery, the Barry Sidlings, and the Dare Valley Country Park.
