Tintagel

The village of Tintagel in the scenic county of Cornwall lies on the dramatic Atlantic coast and is home to Tintagel Castle. The castle is said to be where King Arthur was conceived and this association with the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, makes Tintagel hugely popular with visitors. The Tintagel Castle that visitors see today was built in the early 13th century and is thought to be on the site of an earlier castle from at least a hundred years before. King Arthur was born in the 15th century and archaeological discoveries in the area have revealed a stone with the Latin name "Arthur" inscribed upon it.

Tintagel is a beautiful village with much more to offer than legend and history; the natural beauty of the area, the charm of the village, the shopping, eateries, pubs and attractions contribute to the joy of a visit here too. The Tintagel Visitor Center is an excellent place to discover more about this fascinating region and of course, King Arthur.
