Thurrock

Thurrock is a unitary authority and borough in the county of Essex, near London in the South East of England. It is situated within the London commuter belt and lies on the River Thames, overlooking the county of Kent, which is on the opposite bank. It boasts more than 18 miles of riverfront and is an area of regeneration within the Thames Gateway redevelopment zone.

This is an attractive and historically fascinating town, with excellent transport links, and a good choice of holiday accommodation, including several caravan parks, hotels and guest houses, along with good local shopping prospects and a varied selection of pubs and restaurants. Historical local attractions and museums include the Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre, Coalhouse Fort at East Tilbury, Tilbury Fort in Tilbury, Thurrock Museum and Walton Hall Farm Museum; while, Langdon Hills Country Park and Grove House Wood, are pleasant parklands in the town, which are managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. Popular attractions in the wider area include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Waltham Abbey, Mangapps Railway Museum, Epping Forest, and Hedingham Castle, to name only a handful, along with all the sites and attractions of London, just a stone's throw away.
