Thaxted

Thaxted is a town in the north of the county of Essex, not far from London. Notable landmarks of the town include Horham Hall; Thaxted Guildhall, which dates from around 1450; John Webb's Windmill, which was built in 1804; and the church of St John, which was built between 1340 and 1510, and features the only medieval stone spire in the county.

This is an attractive and historically fascinating town, with excellent transport links, and a good choice of holiday accommodation, including several caravan parks, hotels and guest houses, along with good local shopping prospects and a varied selection of pubs and restaurants. Popular attractions in the area include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Waltham Abbey, Mangapps Railway Museum, Epping Forest, and Hedingham Castle, to name only a handful, along with all the sites and attractions of London, just a stone's throw away.
