Thame is an attractive old market town in Oxfordshire, neighbouring Aylesbury, on the River Thame, from which the town obtained its name. The town boasts excellent family shopping and numerous traditional pubs and restaurants, with a range of quality holiday accommodation to choose from, making Thame an ideal vantage point from which to explore the wider Oxfordshire region.
The town was founded in the Anglo-Saxon era in the former kingdom of Wessex and the town's Thame Park was built on the side of the 1138 Cistercia Abbey, incorporating various parts of the abbey including a 16th century abbot's house. The interior of Thame Park House is one of the earliest examples of the Italian Renaissance in England.
Attractions of the local area include: Thame Museum, Waterperry Gardens, Blenheim Palace, Bekonscot Model Village, and the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway.
