Quaint, charming and very English, Tenbury Wells is an ancient market town in the county of Worcestershire. It is prettily separated from south Shropshire by the fast flowing River Teme in the tranquil Teme Valley. The Pump Rooms are a popular attraction; built in 1862 by the Tenbury Improvement Company to an unusual and attractive architectural design. The building is an iconic and a distinctive feature of Tenbury Wells. The design is based on a greenhouse owned by the designer James Cranston of Birmingham.
To get to know the best and most interesting aspects of Tenbury Wells, visitors can enjoy walking the ‘Town Trail’. Taking about an hour, the trail takes in The Pump Rooms & The Burgage, St Mary’s Church and The Round Market, Tenbury Museum and The Stepping Stones. Alternatively the walk can be split into three separate trails, each lasting around twenty minutes.
