Telford is a large new town in Shropshire, England, that was developed to house the overflow of population in from the Birmingham and Wolverhampton area. It is the largest town in Shropshire, and is still growing very rapidly. The town is named after the engineer, Thomas Telford and was created from the merger several smaller settlements. Known for its greenery and for the scenic canal routes that are popular for barge holidays and walkers.
Some of the notable local attractions and landmarks of the area include the Ironbridge Gorge, which is a scenic tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Drayton Manor Theme Park.
