Tarleton

Tarleton is one of a knot of pretty English villages situated in the Lancashire marshlands, neighbouring Southport and Preston. The River Douglas runs through the village. Tarleton has a bustling market place, which is currently being expanded to include 30 shops, and boasts just a few traditional English pubs, which are ideally positioned for refreshment after a good walk on one of the many routes of the South Ribble countryside.

Landmarks of interest include the Jacobean, Bank Hall mansion, of the neighbouring village of Bretherton, which is often mistaken as Tarleton, due to mutual land ownership. The Hall is currently awaiting renovation.

Although quite small in itself, Tarleton is a lovely place to visit and is an excellent vantage point from which to enjoy the local area, with a number of other popular villages close by and good links to the major cities and tourist attractions of the region.
