Swanage

The small coastal town of Swanage in the beautiful county of Dorset is home to some of the most well known landmarks of the county, including; the Old Harry Rocks and Lulworth Cove. Fishing and agriculture sustained the inhabitants but it was during the Victorian age that prosperity came to Swanage with tourism and it has been a popular destination ever since. The sandy beaches, lovely waters and magnificent setting at the edge of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site are what draw visitors here.

 

A traditional seaside town, Sawnage has more than ample amenities and shops, pubs and eateries as well as a host of visitor and cultural attractions in the area.  The Durlston Country Park nature reserve covers over 260 acres of land that is home to a diverse collection of wildlife, flora and fauna and is very popular with bird watchers. The railway at Swanage is an award winner offering journeys between Swanage and Norden; taking in the stunning countryside that walkers and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy along with the scenic walks inland and along the coastline.
