Staveley

The village of Staveley in the scenic county of Cumbria has had a long and varied history that dates back to around 4000 BC. This area was once covered in dense forests that led to development of the town’s key industry, woodworking. Growth and prosperity came with the woodworking industry and the settlement thrived on the trade that was facilitated by the nearby Rivers Kent and Gowan. By the time of the Industrial Revolution, Staveley was at its peak of production. Stavely’s location remains key to its success today in attracting tourism; located in a beautiful area at the mouth of the Kentmere Valley and surrounded by the diverse countryside of the Lake District that is rich in flora, fauna and wildlife.

Stavely is a perfect base from which to explore this popular area that brings walkers, nature lovers, cyclists and bird-watchers to enjoy the idyllic setting. There are adequate amenities, shops, eateries and pubs in the village, with further choice in the surrounding area. Each year the village celebrates with the well known Staveley Carnival; a weekend of music, dance, art and entertainment that brings a vibrant carnival atmosphere and stunning final procession through the village.
