Stanway

Stanway is a suburb and former village of Colchester, in the north east of the English county of Essex. It is the location of the grave of the "Druid of Colchester", which was discovered by archaeologists in 1996 during the expansion of a sand and gravel quarry. The remains of the Iron Age druid were dated to have been from around 40-60 A.D. and included a uniquely preserved board game.

This is an attractive and historically fascinating part of the county, full of intrigue and entertaining things to see and do. It boasts excellent transport links, and good choice of holiday accommodation, including several caravan parks, hotels and guest houses, along with good local shopping prospects and a varied selection of pubs and restaurants. Popular attractions in the area include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Waltham Abbey, Mangapps Railway Museum, Epping Forest, and Hedingham Castle, to name only a handful, along with all the sites and attractions of London, which is just a stone's throw away.
