Stanley is a former colliery town in scenic County Durham, in North-East England. It is situated on a moorland hilltop between Chester-le-Street and Consett, near Gateshead. It is on the Consett to Sunderland branch of the Coast to Coast cycle route, and so it popular for its restful pub-restaurants and comfortable guest accommodation.
Overall, this is a pleasant and peaceful location that provides easy access to all of the sites and attractions of the North-East. The local area offers good retail prospects and various entertainment venues, as well as excellent transport links to the wider area and Durham.
