Southend-on-Sea

The seaside town and resort of Southend-on-Sea is found in the county of Essex and has been a celebrated and popular seaside resort since the Georgian era. Being so close to London and with easy access for the city-dwellers, Southend-on-Sea draws vast numbers of visitors. The famous Southend Pier is the world's longest pleasure pier, stretching out over a mile and although it has experienced fires and ship collisions, it has survived and remains a visitor attraction.
