Snettisham

Snettisham village is a wonderful place to visit with traditional village amenities, including local shops, eateries, historic buildings and warm, friendly locals. It is the ideal base when exploring the delights of the area like Royal Sandringham, the much loved RSPB reserve, Snettisham Beach, the canals, the beautiful 14th century St Mary's Church with its spectacular stained glass windows, the famous, gloriously scented Norfolk Lavender fields in nearby Heacham, the seaside resort of Hunstanton and so much more. For tourers, day trippers and holiday makers alike, Snettisham offers a welcome that will bring you back.

Snettisham nature reserve should definately be on every visitor's itinerary, it is here that wildlife is the entertainment and it puts on quite a show. At high tides, when the mudflats are covered with water, wading birds in their tens of thousands are forced off their feeding grounds and right into the view of the RSPB hides on the roost banks and islands.

If you are visiting in the summer, you will be treated to the sight of common terns and black-headed gulls nesting. The RSPB has all the information you will need to help you plan your visit with their 'Birdwatcher Tide Tables". They even include details of the moon phases, best tides and ideal opportunities to witness flocks of wild geese take flight. Winter too brings equally beautiful scenes as thousands of pink-footed geese fly over and there is never time of year when you will not find something beautiful and awe inspiring to see here.
