Slingsby

Slingsby is a village in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, in England, neighbouring the popular tourist town of Malton.

The village, and the surrounding Rydale district, is situated in the catchment area of the River Rye — a tributary of the River Derwent, in the historic East Riding of Yorkshire. This region is a very attractive patchwork of rivers, moors and ancient rural villages, benefiting from the more urban districts of Malton, Pickering, and Helmsley — with its substantial medieval castle.

Slingsby and its neighbours are a very pleasant visiting place for walkers and fishing enthusiasts, as well for that traditional English family holiday. The village and the wider area offer a number of fun and educational tourist attractions, including: Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo, Malton Museum, and Eden Camp — all of which are in neighbouring Malton. Scampston Hall & Walled Gardens, Castle Howard, Wharram Percy Medieval Deserted Village, and the Kirkham Priory are also within close proximity to the village.
