Sleaford is a town in the English county of Lincolnshire, near Grantham and 20 miles away from Lincoln. It is situated on the River Slea, which is currently navigable by only light boats, although plans are in place to make it suitable for larger boats as it once was. The riverside features some very pleasant and popular walkways, along which is the former Hubbards Seed Warehouse on the Sleaford Navigation wharf, which is now home to The Hub National Centre for Craft & Design. The footpath then leads on through a wild life area to the 17th century Cogglesford Mill, which is a renovated and working flour mill, and the only remaining watermill in Lincolnshire (possibly the only one of its type in England), with an adjoining family restaurant. There are also several cycle-paths around the town, including the Sleaford Cycle Trail. The National Cycle Network Route 15, starts at neighbouring Grantham, which is being extended through Sleaford to meet NCN National Route 1 at the River Witham.
Overall, Sleaford is a very attractive and enjoyable town from which to explore the county of Lincolnshire, offering a relatively central location and a good choice of quality accommodation, good shopping prospects and plenty to see and do. Attractions in the area include Belton House, Tattershall Castle, Grimsthorpe Castle, Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral, to name only a few.
