The port and seaside town of Silloth-on-Solway in the picturesque county of Cumbria is on the shores of the Solway Firth, looking out onto the hills of Southern Galloway. The Lake District Fells provide the backdrop to this popular seaside resort that has been the subject of fine artworks by great artists including Turner. Silloth was first enjoyed as a holiday resort in the 1860’s when the opening of the railways brought day trippers and holiday makers.
With its expansive green, coastline, inland countryside and visitor attractions, Silloth is a popular destination still. The town is beautifully designed with wide, elegant tree lined streets and a magnificent promenade stretching towards Skinburness. Silloth has a wonderful choice of restaurants, pubs, shops and tourist accommodation as well as cultural and historic sites and activities.
