Sidmouth

The coastal town of Sidmouth in the attractive county of Devon lies at the mouth of the River Sid, below majestic red cliffs on the legendary Jurassic Coast. The town falls within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with walkers, bird-watchers and those with a love of nature and stunning natural scenery. Sidmouth was just a small village until the Georgian and Victorian ages when seaside holidays became all the rage. Many fine buildings remain from those early days of prosperity and growth when royalty favoured Sidmouth; in 1819 the future Queen Victoria came to stay when she was just a baby.

Sidmouth offers plenty to see, do and enjoy with enticing beaches, gardens and historic sites as well as attractive architecture, a charming esplanade and surrounding countryside abundant with wildlife, flora and fauna. There is a good choice of amenities and shops, pubs and eateries and visitor attractions both in the town and region. The annual Sidmouth Folk Festival and the summer concerts given by the Sidmouth Town Band bring lively, colourful celebration to the town in the summer months and are well worth making your plans around.
