One of the earliest buildings here is the St. Mary de Haura Church that was built in the early 12th century.
Shoreham-by-Sea has been a seaside resort since the coming of the railways in the 19th century. There are plenty of seaside attractions, shops, eateries and pubs as well as historic sites and places of interest. As you stroll along the shingle beach and River Adur you will catch sight of a cluster of pretty house boats that were created from barges, tugs, mine sweepers and other disused craft. For an informative glimpse into the history and heritage of Shoreham-on-Sea, the Marlipins Museum on the High Street, housed in a 12th century building, has interesting displays and exhibits.
