Sherborne

The market town of Sherborne in the beautiful county of Dorset lies at the edge of the Blackmore Vale and is home to a wealth of historic buildings and sites of interest, including; the Almshouses founded in 1438; Sherborne House, designed by Benjamin Bastard and Sherborne Abbey. The Abbey has been a Saxon cathedral, a Benedictine abbey and is now a parish church and like many of the medieval and Georgian buildings here is built from distinctive ochre ham stone.

 

Sherborne is a picturesque town with good amenities, eateries, pubs and a great choice of shops including a large number of antique shops as well as art galleries and a colourful market held on Thursdays and Saturdays. There is plenty to see, do and enjoy here with lovely walks amidst the stunning natural scenery of the area and lots of history to explore.
