Sheerness is a town at the mouth of the River Medwayon in north Kent, England. It is located on the Isle of Sheppey, just off the mainland.
The town was originally a 16th century fort built to defend the River Medway, but it became a seaside resort in the 19th century with the addition of a pier and promenade. The town has since acquired a number of seafront amusements and is still a very popular holiday destination for traditional seaside fun.
Popular attractions of Kent include the Kent and East Sussex Railway, the Dover and Deal castles, and the Canterbury Historic River Tours.
