Sandhead is an attractive small coastal village in the council area of Dumfries and Galloway, in south-west Scotland. It boasts a scenic location overlooking Luce Bay, neighbouring the town of Stranraer. It is a popular tourist destination due to its perfect sandy beach, and quaint cottages. Balgreggan Motte, is located on the outskirts of the village, and was the first in a line of early castles along the Rhins. It was used by the Royal Observer Corps during the Second World War as a lookout point.
This is a peaceful location, ideal for those seeking a rural retreat, within close proximity of several sandy bays, hill ranges, and the Galloway Forest Park. The village offers good amenities, a traditional Scottish pub, as well as a choice of holiday accommodation.
