Salcombe

The seaside town of Salcombe in the attractive county of Devon lies nearby the mouth of the Kingsbridge Estuary in the most southerly part of the county. With magnificent coastal scenery and stunning beaches, this is the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Salcombe is amidst the wonder of it. The town's extensive waterfront and naturally sheltered harbour have seen the rise and fall in prosperity brought by the shipbuilding industry and later the influx and popularity that tourism brings. The local crabbing industry still thrives today and visitors can enjoy the fresh catch available here.

Salcombe is a pretty town with ample amenities, eateries, shops and pubs as well as a wealth of wonderful reasons to visit, including; a coastal footpath offering fantastic vista, the opportunity to sail in the estuary, leisurely ferry trips and a host of other activities that abound in the area. There is a marine museum here that tells the maritime story of the town and reveals much of the past with exhibits and displays.
