Ruthin is the county town of Denbighshire, in north Wales. It is prettily situated on a hill in the Vale of Clwyd. The castle and Saint Peter's Square are located by the top of the hill, while many newer parts of the town are lower down on the floodplain of the River Clwyd, where the villages of Pwllglas and Rhewl are also within the boundaries of the town. The historic town centre features the half-timbered Old Court House, which was built in 1401, and displays the remains of a gibbet that was last used in the execution of a Franciscan priest, who was hanged, drawn, and quartered in 1679. The Siop Nain tea and gift shop on Well Street is the location where the first copies of the Welsh national anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, were printed.
Ruthin enjoys a scenic and convenient location that provides ease of access to all the major sites and attractions of north Wales, with a good selection of pubs and restaurants, good shopping prospects, and a rich history to explore, this is certain to be a very enjoyable place from which to enjoy a break in Wales.
