Rowlands Gill

Rowlands Gill is a village in the North-East of England on the north bank of the River Derwent. The river forms a boundary of sorts and so the village is in the county of Tyne and Wear, but within the Blaydon Urban District Council's area of County Durham. In short, this is a location that offers easy access to the best of both counties, from a very pretty vantage point in the Derwent Valley. The local area offers good retail prospects and various entertainment venues, along with a choice of holiday accommodation to suit most requirements, making this a very pleasant place from which to explore an historic and beautiful region of Northern England.

Well-known attractions of the area include Auckland Castle, Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum, Durham Cathedral and Castle (a World Heritage Site), the Durham Dales, the High Force and Low Force waterfalls of the River Tees, and Raby Castle.
