Rosehearty

The coastal town of Rosehearty in Aberdeenshire, Scotland lies on the picturesque Moray Firth coast, having been founded by a group of shipwrecked travellers from Denmark back in the 14th century.  By the early 15th century, the settlement had grown sufficiently for the Fraser family to build Pitsligo Castle, located just inland of Rosehearty. The castle remains are still visible today. The town experienced its greatest growth and development in the 1800’s when the ‘New Town’ was built around a large square.

Rosehearty is a harbour town offering some amenities and within reach of further developed towns and villages that offer additional choices for dining, shopping and leisure activities. The town and area draw visitors who come to explore the rich history of the region as well as the outstanding natural beauty of the diverse flora, fauna and wildlife here on the coast. There are many wonderful walks to enjoy in and around Rosehearty, taking in the views as well as the harbour, old town and distinctive rows of fishermen's cottages.
