Roadwater

The village of Roadwater in Somerset lies at the edge of the scenic Exmoor National Park, which includes the Brendon Hills, the East Lyn Valley and the Vale of Porlock and stretches across both Somerset and Devon counties. The National Park offers diverse landscapes enjoyed by walkers with hilly open moorland and 34 miles of coast; several areas of the moor have been declared as Sites of Special Scientific interest due to the variety of wildlife, flora and fauna. Roadwater is nearby the Washford River and by 1243 had a mill, like other settlements in the area. By the 18th century the Washford River had many mills, with Manor Mills now a Grade II listed building.

Roadwater offers some amenities and is within easy reach of other towns and villages offering additional choices for dining, leisure and shopping. Roadwater is ideal for visitors looking to enjoy the outdoors with wonderful river walks through dense woodland. The village is on the particularly scenic and interesting Coleridge Way Footpath that follows the walks taken by poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
