Rhuddlan

Rhuddlan is a town in the Welsh county of Denbighshire, neighbouring the coastal town of Rhyl and overlooking the River Clwyd. This is an historic and geographically fascinating castle town. Rhuddlan once served as the seat of government for the 2nd century Welsh king Gruffydd ap Llywelyn. The town is best known for the ruins of Rhuddlan Castle, which was built by Edward I of England betweem 1277 and 1282, on the site of a previous castle, at Twthil. This is the location where Edward I signed the Statute of Rhuddlan. Additionally, a fossil of a pterosaur was discovered in Rhuddlan in the early 1990s.
