Purfleet

Purfleet is a small town on the River Thames just outside of the boundary of Greater London. It is one of seven conservation areas in Thurrock and best known as a location used by Bram Stoker for the English estate of Count Dracula. It is also is home to the Purfleet Garrison Heritage and Military Centre, which is the former location for the storage of gunpowder and protective garrison. The building features a lightening conductor that was built under the instruction of King George III using a contrary design to the one suggested by political opponent Benjamin Franklin.

Purfleet offers excellent transport links, and a good choice of holiday accommodation, including several caravan parks, hotels, and guest houses, along with good local shopping prospects and a varied selection of pubs and restaurants. Popular attractions in Essex include Colchester Castle, Colchester Zoo, Waltham Abbey, Mangapps Railway Museum, Epping Forest, and Hedingham Castle, to name only a handful, along with all the sites and attractions of London, which is just a stone's throw away.
