Port Isaac

The small fishing village of Port Isaac in the scenic county of Cornwall is best known in modern times as the picturesque location for a television series in the UK, ITV’s ‘Doc Martin’. Long before the village became a celebrity, it was a busy coastal port that grew from around the Middle Ages. The harbour here was thriving in the trade of stone, coal, timber and pottery. Fishing and the processing of the catch were also important to the town’s prosperity and there are still fishermen working from here today. A stroll along the narrow alleyways that wind up the steep hillsides through this charming village, will take the visitor past listed buildings and beautiful architecture; including the lovely cottages dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Port Isaac offers plenty of amenities and shops, eateries and pubs and the local area provides a wealth of choice if you are looking for things to do and places to see. Every view is a scenic one and Port Isaac is a popular choice for those who enjoy scenic walks, bird watching, cycling and outdoor activities. During the summer season, visitors can book fishing or scenic trips from Port Isaac harbour to take in the drama and beauty of the coastline.
