Pocklington

Pocklington, known locally as "Pock", is a small market town situated at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding of Yorkshire, in England. In the Iron Age the town was a regional capital. It was noted in the Domesday Book as the second largest settlement in Yorkshire, with neighbouring York, being the first. There is also a large caravan park in the town, making this a very attractive location for a traditional English holiday.

Attractions in the area include Millington Wood, and the Pocklington canal head with footpaths; Allerthorpe Lakeland Park is also a great spot for walking, as well as for watersports activities and fly fishing on the lake; and Burnby Hall Gardens, at the centre of Pocklington, which are home to a National Collection of the biggest collection of water lilies in a natural setting in the whole of Europe.
