Pitlochry

Pitlochry is a small inland burgh town in the Scottish council area of Perth and Kinross. It is situated on the River Tummel and is a characteristic Victorian tourist resort that was developed as such because Queen Victoria herself visited the area in 1842. It is still a popular tourist destination today, as a centre for hillwalking, as it is situated amidst a spectacular mountainous landscape with formidable peaks such as Ben Vrackie and Schiehallion. The town is characterised by its many stone-built Victorian buildings and a high street that features a cast iron canopy along one side.
