Pilling

Pilling is a village within the Wyre borough of Lancashire, England. It neighbours Poulton-le-Fylde, and is only a very short journey away from Lancaster and Preston. The village is situated in a very pretty part of the Fylde known as Over Wyre, which is known for its patchwork of traditional rural villages and river walks overlooked by the Beacon Fells National Park. One of the many local beauty areas is Brock Bottom, of the river Brock which flows through the area from the fells and affords the visitor a very enjoyable day out that is suitable for all the family as children love to paddle in the shallows of the river.

Pilling is a very ancient settlement, founded on what used to be considered an island, since it is bordered by the sea on one side and marshland around its perimeter. There have been archaeological discoveries in the area that suggest that there has been human activity within Pilling dating back to the Neolithic era.
