Penmaenmawr

The town of Penmaenmawr in Conwy, Wales grew and developed around the quarries in the area and went on to become a seaside resort that continues to attract visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Situated between mountains of the Sychnant Pass and sea, Penmaenmawr boasts many reasons to visit, including; one of the best beaches in North Wales and the proximity of the Snowdonia National Park; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty popular with walkers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. The town’s popularity as a seaside resort came in the second half of the 19th century and was partly encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by Prime Minister William Gladstone who enjoyed holidays here on at least 11 occasions in the mid 19th century.

 

Penmaenmawr offers plenty for visitors to see, do and enjoy and offers all the amenities, shops, visitor attractions, eateries and pubs you would expect of a seaside resort town. The promenade and lovely beach are the key attractions here along with the beauty of the town itself, complete with landscaped terraces and strong echoes of the Victorian past complete with iconic beach chalets. Outdoor sports are well catered for in Penmaenmawr, with sailing, windsurfing and canoeing to be enjoyed on the seafront with its magnificent views of Llandudno's Great Orme and the Menai Straits.
