Nuneaton is a large town in the English county Warwickshire, near Coventry. The novelist George Eliot was born on a farm just outside of the town in 1819, where she lived for much of her early life as Mary Anne Evans. Nearby Arbury Hall is mentioned several of her novels. Other attractions in the local area include Baddesley Clinton — which is a medieval moated manor house and gardens now open to the public, as well as Farnborough Hall, and the Stratford Butterfly Farm. There are also a number of canal networks in the area owing to the industrial heritage of the North, which form a series of routes for exploring the area both by barge and on foot.
