Northumberland

The county of Northumberland is found in the North East of England, on the border with Scotland and is a place of diverse natural scenery that includes golden sandy beaches, rugged moorland and rolling hills. Northumberland is a vast and beautiful county populated with friendly villages and market towns and home to ancient castles, the Northumberland National Park just south of Hadrian's Wall and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the Northumberland Coast and the North Pennines.

Northumberland is where large parts of Hadrian's Wall can still be explored; begun in AD 122, the wall was Roman Britain's biggest building project and the most heavily fortified border in the Empire. Northumberland also offers a host of visitor attractions, historic sites and places to visit including; mysterious cup and ring stone carvings throughout the county, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Hexham Abbey and Dunstanburgh Castle as well as fabulous gardens and grand stately homes like The Alnwick Garden, Howick Hall and Cragside Estate.
