Northowram

The village of Northowram in West Yorkshire is within the Calderdale borough where the upper part of the River Calder flows and the landscape includes small river valleys with tributaries of the river. Northowram is amidst beautiful natural scenery on the north side of the Shibden valley with Southowramton on the southern side. The Shibden Valley has long relied on wool production as the main industry and benefits from the Red Beck stream that flows through it before it joins the River Calder at Brookfoot. The lush green of the Shibden Valley stretches from Halifax through to Queensbury in the south of Bradford.

 

Northowram is a small, friendly village with just enough amenities and shops and within close proximity of larger settlements offering additional choices for dining, leisure and shopping. Visitors come to the area for the beauty of the scenery, the diverse wildlife habitats and variety of flora and fauna along the wonderful walks here.
