North lancing

The large village of Lancing in the charming county of West Sussex is in the beautiful Adur Valley and is thought to be the largest village in England. The village is amidst a diverse landscape of the chalk of the South Downs, countryside and coast with its own nature reserve, Lancing Ring, which is part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The village has been a popular seaside resort and was at its peak in the mid 19th century when the wealthy chose to holiday here.

 

Lancing has plenty of amenities, eateries, pubs and shops as well as places of interest, attractions and historic sites, including; the last toll bridge in Sussex, the Grade II listed Shoreham Toll Bridge that crosses over the River Adur into Shoreham. Natural attractions in the surrounding area attract walkers and outdoor enthusiasts as well as bird-watchers; there is a shingle beach here and to the south, is the unique Widewater, a brackish lagoon that is the only known location of Ivell's sea anemone.
