Norfolk is a county on the East Coast of England, overlooking the North Sea and The Wash. This is a low-lying and predominantly rural part of the country best known for The Norfolk Broads National Park, which is a scenic network of rivers and lakes that help to drain the former marshland into the sea via The Wash. The county town is Norwich, which has a population of only one-thirtieth the size of London's and, along with King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth, is notable for its tranquillity and restful pace of life.
Although it is the fifth largest ceremonial county in England, Norfolk has a low population density and remains a very traditional area, popular for country visits. Historical sites, such as the centre of Norwich, also contribute to tourism.
